The first time, I saw the words bulletproof bars, I can honestly say that a lot went into my mind. I thought of the popular pop song, then bulletproof vests, wonder woman’s bulletproof arm guards and even seemingly indestructible metal bars. The list goes on I tell you. I never thought it would be about a company’s food product. Bulletproof is the company name and collagen protein bars is just one of their many products. Who would’ve thought right? Not me, I guess. Clever marketing if you ask me.
If I hear the word collagen, I think of the many celebrities endorsing products containing this particular substance. They claim that it is in a way some sort of “fountain of youth” that makes and keeps them looking younger than their real age. Then my doctor once said that collagen will help me heal stretch marks from my pregnancy. As it turns out, collagen is considered one of the most abundant proteins in the body. It gives the skin its structure and elasticity hence a younger-looking appearance. It also gives strength to bones, hair, and nails. It also improves heart health. In more recent years collagen has been introduced in the market as supplements, in the form of capsules, powders, even in intravenous forms. And now there are also food products that now contain collagen just like what Bulletproof is offering.
Collagen is a form of protein found in the body. Protein bars may or may not be collagen since there are a lot of proteins abundant in the food universe. Protein bars can be energy bars that are mainly carbohydrates, meal replacement bars that are intended to give nutrients to replace nutrients that have been lost or are lacking in the first place. Then there are the famous protein bars that are patronized mostly by athletes to build up their muscles since protein is the main ingredient that build up muscle structures for those who want to be buffed.
Bulletproof Collagen Protein Bars
First of the name Bulletproof Collagen Protein Bars sounds redundant since collagen is already a protein. However, it may be because protein bars are already out in the market and putting collagen on the packaging name would make potential buyers draw closer to the product. That is if they are looking for products that have collagen in them. This particular collagen protein bar comes with two variants namely, Vanillamax and Upgraded Chocolate. The company prides itself with the ingredients they use for making their collagen protein bar. As they say, they make their bars from “Bulletproof grass-fed collagen protein” which happens to be fat extracted from the plushest part of a coconut. When you consume this protein bar you have a sense of being full for a prolonged period of time thus helps you lose that unwanted weight or maintain what you have already lost. It also boasts of having Brain Octane Oil which is more or less better than MCT oils. It keeps consumers alert and focused.
Online reviews of this product sited that bulletproof collagen protein bars are tasty especially the Vanillamax flavor. However, it doesn’t do well on the texture of the product as far as the review goes since most of the product is greasy with all that cashew oil and Brain octane oil. There is less left to be desired once you have had one. One reviewer even mentioned that it’s like eating a stick of butter. On the side note though, a healthy stick of butter that is.
Ingredients of the Bulletproof Collagen Protein Bar
The ingredients of this particular product can be seen on its packaging and can also be seen online. But here is a rundown of the ingredients found in this protein bar which you can also view on other sites. We start of with organic cashew butter, organic cashews, sea salt, chicory root fiber, organic Bulletproof Upgraded Chocolate Powder, Bulletproof Upgraded Collagen Protein, XCT Oil Powder, (Caprylic and Capric Acid from coconut or palm kernel oil), Bulletproof Brain Octane, organic coconut oil, and stevia. As you can see for yourself it is totally loaded with healthy butter and healthy oil which makes for a very greasy power snack. But one thing is also sure they love organic and sourcing their own ingredients from their own backyard. Just check out all the Bulletproof products used as ingredients as well.
Does This Product Really Work?
If the whole idea of eating a stick of butter doesn’t faze you and you enjoy eating protein bars to begin with then, by all means, try this product. Though there aren’t any studies conducted yet as to the viability of the product there is no harm in trying unless of course, you are somehow allergic to the ingredients used in making this protein bar.
To balance things out though, I saw from one article that way back 2017 Bulletproof 360 has recalled some of its items from the market due to possible contamination. Five products have been recalled from various markets both in the US and in other countries because of the possible contamination of listeria monocytogenes. Said products are, the fudge brownie collagen protein bars and bites, lemon cookie collagen protein bar, vanilla shortbread collagen protein bars, and bites. Though Bulletproof was not at fault and under further investigation it was found out that it was their supplier’s fault. But being a responsible company they opted to recall such products that may have been contaminated. Perhaps the company didn’t want to risk anyone’s health since the wellbeing of each individually paying customer is their main concern. Besides, it happened two years ago and it has been part of history already.
To sum things up, Bulletproof Collagen Protein Bars are loaded with healthy oils both for the brain and the body. With the feeling of being full, it gives you that much wanted control over your hunger and hunger driven weight gain. Mind you Bulletproof Collagen Protein bars just like other protein bars will work provided that you also observe the proper usage and consumption of the said product by consulting nutritionists.
